How many times have we noticed that one individual (let's call him C) who acts like a saint in front of A, turns into a Satan while in the company of B. Now what makes C undergo such a tremendous transformation. Do surroundings/company have such a big impact on the personalities of individuals that they swing between the extremes of character traits ?! Or is it that the two extremes always existed inside the individual and it was just a matter of opportunity for one character trait to overcome the other? Well, I am not sure as to what psychology has to say about this amazing phenomenon but have developed my own theory which mostly proves right on most ocassions. I call it The Theory of 3 Faces .
As per this theory, every individual always has 3 personalities that are revealed to different people under different circumstances. And every individual always tries his very best not to let a certain personality be revealed to the people he doesn't wish to expose it to. And from what I have experienced, the coherence of these intended to be exclusive personalities, leads to mental/emotional breakdowns of the encompassing body. The exclusivity often becomes difficult to maintain and leads to chaos if not handled gracefully. Let me eleborate on the 3 faces to make the concept clearer.
The face that is public. This is how the world sees you and this is how actually you want the world to see you. All the inner thoughts are curbed, the true intentions hidden and the adrenaline flow choked. This face exists for the sake of existing in the world and is never the one that satiates the soul's thirst for existence. All the happiness lies with the acceptance level of the projected personality by the pseudo world. This makes every individual a mirror with everyone seeing an image of themseleves and believing that everything is good.
The face for family and the loved ones. A facet of personality that is free and yet bound. You can put out your thoughts but the execution makes you tackle the contraints on the thought boundaries of your kin. What would the society say (more aptly 4 log kya kahenge ). A freedom that cannot be enjoyed to its full potential for sometimes the exhaustive enjoyment of this freedom ends up in guilt and regret with no one else to blame but yourself. So, this face is a little hung up and gives rise to a state of confusion many a times.
The true self of you. The face that only you have seen and experienced. No one knows what you are underneath but you. It is something you hide from the world and would never like anyone to explore. An entirely different dimension that no one else has access to. The personality you talk to when alone, when your mind is numb , when you have had enough of the pseudo world. This is your friend and this is your life.
This was all about the Theory Of 3 Faces . Any suggestions to improve the theory are welcome.
